Nicholas Tower
Nicholas Tower, situated on Independence Square, Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago is the second tallest building in Trinidad and Tobago. Secondly only to the 26 story building situated in the International Waterfront project. It has an elliptical floor plate and stands 21〔Chouti, Sandra, (Changing the face of PoS ), ''Trinidad Guardian'', February 9, 2006.〕 floors tall and 88 Meters high. Construction was completed in 2003 and each floor, of space, was rented out at a cost of $96,000 a month〔Javeed, Asha, (Mobile provider wants to stay downtown ), ''Trinidad Guardian'', August 25, 2005〕 (as of 2005). It is a blue glass tower.
The building was constructed on the site of the Trinidad Union Club, a 136-year-old private club.,〔Javeed, Asha, (Union Club enters new era )''Trinidad Guardian'', July 27, 2006〕 which now occupies the penthouse suite of the Nicholas Tower.〔 The Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange, another former tenant of the Union Club building,〔 also occupies this building. Insurance Giant Clico occupies the 9th floor of the tower. Caribbean Airlines' (The national airline of Trinidad and Tobago) head office is also located in the Nicholas Tower.〔〔Long, Sherwin, (TTSE finds new home ), ''Trinidad Guardian'', November 10, 2005.〕
